Agilulfo comes across as a noble and dutiful knight under Charlemagne. In fact, he is nothing more than an empty suit of armor held together only by his will to survive. Pino Zac's IL CAVALIERE INESISTENTE is a congenial adaptation of Italo Calvino's eponymous fable (1959) about knightly virtues as an empty shell. Real scenes are combined in virtuosic manner with cartoon and puppet animation.
